Deck Idea: Anson/Masters + TGB + Anneke/Obedience

The South Bay group made a trip up to Stanford for VTES last saturday afternoon. I played my old G1/2 Toreador Aching Beauty/Vote deck; though I got creamed, I thought of a new variation.

This is a mostly Anson/Masters deck; bring him out and start pumping out Master cards. Toreador Grand Ball him to make the small Torries (insert british political joke here) unblockable for KRCs and Praxis Seizures. Anneke can be brought out to block actions with Bowl/2nd Traditions and Obedience (Dominate skill card to make her not tap).

The Masters selection probably needs tweaking (Heidelberg? Visit from the Capuchin?), plus how to maintain vote lock when another vote deck is on the table?

  1. I just made a long post and it was eaten by the internets. In short, you need Anthelios, Eyes of Argus, Alastor, 1x Helicopter, and bounce. The PS title cards aren't good because you need to be more forward-focused. Scalpel Tongue and voter cap are good bets. Ashur Tablets could probably be more offensive cards, too.

  2. Yeah, this deck is incredibly inflexible.

You really don't need that many masters. Why no bounce? What happens if your prey manages to find a way to bloat and just ignores your vote bleed?

If you want vote lock, the obvious play is Powerbase: Rome.

As for Ashur Tablets, I see them being best in one of two kinds of decks - either a deck that is highly redundant but burns through cards like crazy, like the Dagger deck but any sort of weenie deck would probably fit or a deck with lots of one-ofs. They can work in lots of other decks, but they aren't necessary.

Also, this deck plays like lots of your other decks. Variety is the very spice of life. While it could be argued that many of my decks these days are similarly conceived intercept combat decks, a reason for that is because there's so little intercept in our metagame that I feel like I need to provide some.

  4. @Curevei: Powerbase: Rome is a good idea. Ashur Tablets/Liquidation are this deck's primary poolgain; I could remove a fair number of Masters for bounces and wakes.

I have an old Brujah Alastor deck (haven't played in months) and a Ventrue vote deck (that Denise plays). I'm morphing the G1/2 deck into something quite different. I don't think that constitutes as lots of decks. Like you said on saturday, there are but a few ways of winning. And I've tried building combat decks (cf. Assamites and Gangrel).

@Brandon: Anthelios is a great idea, I think I have a copy somewhere. I don't use scalpel tongue or voter cap because its the small Torries that are doing the voting; pre is pretty much all they have. So without Praxis Seizures, vote lock is less certain. How would you suggest more forward actions? TGB works on non-bleed actions.

  5. You could throw in a combination of maybe 2x Entrancement and 2x Enchant Kindred for either bleed or the superior options(i.e. unblockably steal an ally). Using a variety of KRC, Reins of Power, Neonate Breach, etc can help against DT and just give you more damage that you can do in a turn.

I'd suggest having Anson be your main dude to vote and also have some tor weenies like the 3 cap with AUS for the TGB target.

  6. @Brandon: Entrancement sounds like a great idea; Con Ag is another one I should look into. Oops conflated TGB with Brujah Debate; you don't need the largest vamp to be tapped.
